Google rond deze dagen zijn ontwikkelaarsconferentie I\/O af. Dit is het congres waar nieuwe diensten worden gelanceerd. Ook worden diverse codes veelal open aangeboden om door de Android-tech community te laten uitontwikkelen. Dag 1 gaf al direct een aardige lancering van een nieuwe product.<\/p>\n

Een speaker<\/h2>\n

Google heeft de\u00a0Google Home speaker angekondigd. Met Home kun je in huis muziek bedienen met spraak en heeft hij ook\u00a0ondersteuning voor Assistant, de digitale assistent van Google. In de huiskamer kun je het device dus een vraag stellen. Het principe is niet nieuw, Amazon kent al een soortgelijk product. The Verge vergelijkt het product met Amazon’s Echo: \u00a0<\/p>\n

You can think of Home as his next act. It’s essentially what you’d expect if you were looking for Google to create an Echo competitor. It’s a small speaker you plug into the wall with always-listening, far-field microphones that can hear you from across the room. It’ll answer your questions, play your music, and control some of your home automation gadgets. To hear Queiroz tell it, the Home will be better at most of those things than the Echo.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Huiskamer<\/h2>\n

De\u00a0draadloze speaker wil Google een plek krijgen in de huiskamer. De zoekgigant\u00a0wil simpelweg meer aanwezig zijn in de toekomstige Smart\u00a0Home. Het device kan communiceren met andere speakers en apparatuur en kan door het huis heen worden bediend.\u00a0Ook\u00a0kan het via Google Cast tv’s video’s laten afspelen en heeft het integratie met de Google Nest-thermostaten.\u00a0De integratie is dus key.<\/p>\n

Instead, Google Home is going to work with a smaller set of home automation devices \u2014 Google wouldn’t say which, but it will include at least some thermostats and lights. And it will be able to do all the stuff that Google’s voice assistant can currently do (plus perhaps a bit more, we’ll know when we get a chance to really try it). Fortunately for Google, that’s quite a lot \u2014 thanks in no small part to the Knowledge Graph. It’s a kind of super database that understands thousands of “entities” and their relation to one another. So if you ask for a basketball player’s jersey number, Google can just give you the answer and then stand at the ready for more related questions without needing you to walk it through the current context.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
